Berdaguer & Péjus

Christophe Berdaguer was born in 1968. Marie Péjus was born in 1969.
They live and work in Marseille.

Since the 1990's, Berdaguer&Péjus work has been connected with architecture, environmental analysis, production of housing projects and space planning. The artists also take an interest in pathologies, neurological and mental dysfunction and infections which affect the comprehension of space. They are involved in other areas of thought and artistic creation such as psychoanalysis and the placebo effect.
They conceive their work not as a final result but as the fruit of an exploration which allows the looker to project himself into a possible future, as a kind of  "instrument of projectin".
During their residency with Biotrial Research, the artists' aim was to develop work in the area of symmetry of chemical substances whose active components are mutually inhibitive. They will present two molecules which modify our perception of time, one by accelerating it and the other by slowing it down. Taken together they allow the perception of real time. At the Couvent des Jacobins, the artists will present an installation created around these molecules and which will try to reconstitute time perception disorder as accurately as possible.

Produced as part of a SouRces residency with Biotrial Research.
