Laurent Duthion

Born in 1972. Lives and works in Rennes.

Laurent Duthion draws on scientific research to produce his creations-objects (creation) which invite us to experience the world differently. Through his desire to disturb and interfere with our perception of things, he questions our relation with the constitutive uncertainty of the future. He is showing two works for What Comes. Transsubstantiation etc, etc. is an science fiction editorial project which draws on the Swiss theologian Louis Segond's (1810-1885),  translation of the New Testament. The artist offers a version which has been adapted from the canon text which respects the structure of the narrative and which allows us to discover an original interpretation, revisited according to  science fictional narrative codes. His other work is presented in the form of a buffet for an art exhibition preview, Cécile Substantine is an invitation to ingest unknown, colourless foods made by the artist from recipes based on molecular chemistry. If as the saying goes, we are what we eat, this work offers to let us experience an intimate confrontation of the unknowingness of our future.
