Liam Gillick
Born in Aylesbury (Great Britain). Lives and works in London and Paris.
A well known British artist since the beginning of the 1990s, Liam Gillick alternates his productions – installations, drawings – and exploration of language. He has also written several art criticisms, especially in regard to conceptual art. Establishing the thought of the future at the heart of his work, Liam Gillick will produce three large size posters which will be visible throughout the event on advertising hoardings, for What is to come. This project , A New Virtual Production Line,
recounts, like a litany, the unavoidable fatality of technical innovation and the capitalist quest for maximum profit : a factory is stripped in order for it to be transformed into a unit of extraneous production, present through the virtual all over the world. Through the artist's chosen form, this tale takes on the aspect of a story told over and over again without ever getting to the end.
