Pierre Bismuth

born in 1963 in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
Lives and works in New York and Brussels.

Pierre Bismuth is interested in the way we perceive reality and his work subverts this perception through the use of elements and images from the cultural industry. The cinema, in particular is at the heart of his references and collaborations. For That Which Comes, he is producing a  Coming Soon neon sign in gothic script inspired by the Couvent des Jacobins. The work will first be projected onto the facade of the building overlooking the Place Sainte Anne : midway between a promise and a warning, Coming Soon alerts us to That Which Comes, not only the exhibition but the future in general. After the opening of the Biennal the work will be exhibited in one of the rooms in the convent.
