The Couvent des Jacobins is a listed Historic Monument located on the Place Saint-Anne in the heart of Rennes. A magical place, filled with history – Anne of Brittany and French king Charles VIII were betrothed here in 1491 – the monastery is to be the epicentre of the events programme. It was founded in 1367, and with the Parlement de Bretagne is one of the main historic buildings in the city. Following the French Revolution, it was occupied by the army, from whom it was purchased in 2002 by Rennes Métropole.
This exceptional site which has remained closed for many years will now once more open its doors and its 1500 m2 exhibition space to the public.
